If you’ve been on the internet recently, you may have seen an incredible rotating video of a man skiing. It looked a little like this:
The creator Nicolas Vuignier had an idea: swing a camera around himself to create a “bullet time” effect. Sounds simple right? Not so much.
His first cardboard test housing for his camera proved the concept was possible, but there was a lot of room for improvement. Vuignier need to build, test and refine a housing to hold his iPhone that stably film him while he shredded his way down the mountain.
After lots of trial and error and 8 prototypes, Vuignier finally achieved the incredible result he wanted. The video he released, Centriphone, has racked up 3.6 million views in about three weeks. As innovators ourselves, we can really appreciate his outside-the-box thinking, and dedication to getting device to perform just right.
