Backpacker Magazine kicks off its 18th annual Get Out More Tour April 25 at the North Country Trail Association’s celebration in Hocking Hills, Ohio, and performance eyewear company Popticals joins the 200-day tour for the first time.
The 2018 Get Out More Tour will visit more than 50 venues, from outdoor retail shops to music festivals. Each stop will include 90-minute seminars that will both educate and inspire participants and cover a wide range of topics including backpacking tips, how to live the van life when not out on the trail, and info on the latest in gear and apparel.
“With the Tour’s focus on educating and inspiring people to get outdoors with the best gear, it was a natural fit for us,” said Popticals Marketing Manager Preston Porter. “For the next seven months, Randy will be living the van life and embodying our motto of ‘Pack Small. Live Big.’ while giving people a hand-on experience with our sunglasses. We’re incredibly excited to be a partner of the tour.”
During the Tour, Backpacker Magazine’s brand ambassador Randy Propster will share his passion, experience, and knowledge with outdoor enthusiasts across the country. Besides Popticals, other Tour participants include Ford Motors, Adventure Medical Kits, Backpacker’s Pantry, ENO, Farm to Feet, Hydrapak, LEKI, Osprey Packs, Salomon, Sawyer Products, Sea to Summit, Wacaco Minipresso, and Yakima Racks.
Popticals solves the problem of how to safely and conveniently store performance wrap-around sunglasses when they aren’t being worn. Typically, sunglasses are pushed to the top of the head, hung from a shirt collar, or set down somewhere where they can be forgotten, scratched, or broken.
Popticals sunglasses feature the company’s patented FL2 Micro-Rail System®, which allows the frame to separate at the bridge, and the lenses to slide parallel and nest on top of each other for storage in a custom compact case. The case easily fits into a jacket pocket, backpack, luggage, or can be clipped to a climbing harness or belt.
To match the level of innovation in its frame design, Popticals partnered with Carl Zeiss Vision to develop their crystal-clear NYDEF™ nylon lenses. Popticals NYDEF lenses are also 18 percent lighter than polycarbonate lenses and rival the clarity of glass. The result is eyewear that provides a better outdoor experience.
Popticals are available in eight different frame styles, each in different frame color and lens options. The USA designed, made in Italy eyewear range in price from $169 to $239.
