The start of the FLW bass fishing season is here and the pros are ready to hit the water! For the first time, the tour will feature 17 events as opposed to the normal 16. The first stop on the 2017 FLW Tour was Lake Guntersville, Alabama. The tournament wrapped by last weekend (February 2-5) and Popticals Pro Scott Suggs secured a strong 4th place finish to kick off the first event of the season!
Scott Suggs hit the water Thursday morning in his eye-catching Popticals boat and caught his 5 bass limit despite the chilly conditions on the first and second day of the tournament. He headed into day three strong with a weight of 17 – 10 on day 1 and 16 – 3 on day two, securing his spot in the top 20.
With his biggest day of the tournament, Suggs reeled in an impressive 17 – 14 on day 3 to move on to the top ten and final day of fishing at Lake Guntersville. The final stretch was a tight battle between Suggs and Shinichi Fukae, who was just 6 ounces in total weight behind Suggs. On day 4, Suggs kicked off the morning by reeling in a big 5 lbs by 8am. When it came down to the final weigh in, Suggs edged out Shinichi Fukae by just 5 ounces and ended the tournament with a total of 68lbs 9oz of Lake Gunterville bass.
